Steve & Suzy Thompson
Steve Thompson was raised in a Christian home and professed faith in Christ at 4 years old but gained reassurance of salvation at age 9 during revival meetings. While working at a Christian camp as a highschooler, God made it clear that He wanted Stephen to serve Him in full time ministry. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Youth Ministry and met his wife, Suzy, in the process. Suzy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for a few years after college. Suzy loves serving in church ministry with Stephen. God has blessed Stephen and Suzy with three boys: Jordan, Jack, and Noah.
Stephen has always had a passion for kids and youth ministry. He worked at Christian camps and helped in children's ministries since he was in high school. After graduating from college, Stephen taught full time in Christian education for a few years in both elementary and high school. After that, the Lord led him into full time pastoral ministry in Michigan with children and youth, during which the calling to pastoral ministry was further confirmed in his life.
Stephen’s desire is to see children come to know Jesus as their Savior and grow to love God at a young age, so that they continue to follow Him and His path for their lives. In Matthew 4, Jesus quoted from Deuteronomy when He said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” As important as physical growth is, spiritual growth is even more important, and Stephen wants to support, assist, and encourage parents as they raise their children to follow after God and grow to love Him more and more.
Stephen also has a passion for lost souls. He recognizes the importance of the Great Commission and wants to see people come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ and be discipled in the local church. Stephen believes that it is the responsibility of every Christian to be proclaiming the truth of the gospel to the lost around them. Recognizing that salvation is by faith in Jesus through the grace of God, Stephen desires to effectively spread the seed of the gospel to the lost and trust in God to give the increase.
