Colonial is hosting Majesty MusiCollege July 31 through August 1. The Colonial family is invited to attend this two-day event free of charge. Highlights will include music reading sessions, workshops, choir rehearsals, and a closing concert featuring conference attendees and the CHBC adult, teen, and children’s choirs. If you are interested in attending any or all of the sessions, please sign up at the sign-up counter. In addition, a music bag, valued at approximately $200 is available for $35 for those who wish to have music in hand for the reading sessions. You may indicate your desire to purchase on the sign-up sheet, as well. Please sign up for this event by July 13.
At Colonial we strive to accomplish four purposes through our music:
To Glorify God: Give people the right opinion of the God we serve and accurately represent Him
To Praise God: Focus the listeners’ attention on God, not on performers or presentations
To Edify Believers: Produce spiritual understanding and growth in believers rather than entertain them or stir up a feeling of worship
To Unify the Church: Bring people together as they corporately worship the Lord rather than divide them according to their personal musical preferences
Because the words of a song can reinforce biblical truths or turn our thoughts to praising God, the music at Colonial nicely complements the preaching of the Word of God. But even without lyrics our music can communicate the beauty and order of God’s nature. Through traditional, conservative hymns, gospel songs, and recently composed songs, we endeavor to reflect the nature of God and bring glory to His name.
Colonial offers beginner and experienced musicians many opportunities to minister through music:
