Pastoral Staff

Pastor Chuck Phelps is our senior pastor.  Prior to coming to Colonial, Dr. Phelps served as a youth pastor in Minnesota and Colorado, as a senior pastor in New Hampshire, and as a college president in Wisconsin.  He has traveled to numerous mission fields, colleges, seminaries, and churches to teach and preach the Bible.  Pastor Phelps is a passionate, practical Bible teacher and preacher.  He ministers faithfully to our church family along with his wife, Linda.  They have five children and one grandson.

After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible, Pastor Taylor first pastored in Greeneville, Tennessee. In 1974 he founded the campus church of Pensacola Christian College. In 1988 he became the pastor of Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Pastor and Joan have three sons and eight grandchildren. Pastor Taylor retired from the senior pastorate in 2009 but remains active in itinerant ministry.

Loren and Robyn Regier have been a part of the ministry team for over seven years.  Loren coordinates the outreach ministries and also oversees the care of our homebound members.  Loren has a passion for personal evangelism.  Though we live in a day of advanced technologies, he still holds that the most powerful tool for communicating the gospel is people.  The Regiers have three children:  Whitney, Ethan, and Nathan.

Pastor Roschi has been the music pastor at Colonial Hills Baptist Church since 1983. He oversees the music for both the church and Colonial Christian School. In addition to his church ministries, Pastor Roschi teaches private music lessons. He has also worked with music publishers and has traveled with three musical ensembles. Pastor Roschi and his wife, Gayle, have three children and one grandchild. The Roschis are well known for their dynamic music ministry.

Jon and Joy Fry joined the staff of Colonial in January 2006. Jon oversees our youth group and teaches the 10-12th grade Sunday school class. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Missions in 2001. Jon and his wife, Joy, met in college and were married in 2001. They have three children: Hudson, Will, and Claire. The Fry's passion is to teach young people and their parents to love God and love others.

Pastor Thomas serves Colonial Hills Baptist Church as the business manager and Senior Saints’ pastor. Prior to coming to Colonial, he served part-time in church youth and music ministries in Florida and full-time with the Ron Comfort Evangelistic Team. He enjoys visiting and traveling with the Senior Saints and teaching the Berean Sunday school class. He and his wife, Karen, have three grown daughters.

Dan Nelson joined the staff at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in 2004. He and his wife, Marty, have served the Lord in Christian education and youth work for more than thirty years in the Philippines, Colorado, and West Virginia. Pastor Nelson has advanced degrees in Bible, information systems, and education. The Nelsons have four daughters.

Wendell and Betty Heller came to Indianapolis in 1957 and founded Northeast Baptist Church, which would later become Colonial Hills Baptist Church. He was Senior Pastor of Colonial until his retirement in 1989.  Under his ministry the church started Colonial Christian School, Pre-K through twelfth grade. He now travels, speaking in revivals, retreats, and conferences. Wendell and Betty have three children, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
